Colour Connection: Speak in your Space with Solid Wood Mennonite Furniture Stain.

Once you have selected the design or style of your new solid wood furniture, the decision is only half over. Now you have to make a choice on what colour of stain you would like! The choices seem endless – not only are there so many different shades, but there are also choices of having two different stains applied, perhaps one tone to the legs of your table and another to the top. Chairs, coffee tables, and sideboards can all be finished this way. So, how much does colour matter?

Colour matters a lot! The question that needs to be answered first is what kind of atmosphere do you want in the room where you are placing your solid wood furniture pieces? Most of us have an idea of what we want to express to those who come in to our home, and the colour you choose will have a definite impact on their impression. Let’s take a look at some common colours and how they can help your furniture express what you desire most.

Black: Let’s start with the favorite first! Black is very popular right now, particularly when it comes to chairs. There’s no question, it does look nice, especially if you are a “primitive/rustic” fan. Black actually can contribute to a warm atmosphere, if it is matched with something like a warm brown table. However, should you put black with a white or cooler shade like grey, then it would express rest as well. Black stain on solid wood can be very versatile, which makes it a great go-to colour when you want a contrast with your solid wood furniture. Black also expresses class and elegance, a great concept to have in almost any room of your home!

Dark Walnut: What a beautiful warm brown shade! Craving a little warmth in your den, or perhaps your living room? Dark Walnut stain on your solid wood furniture will express that

for you. You’ll find that it goes well with almost any décor theme, and will allow your guests to feel warm and welcomed in any space where you choose to place that colour. Cold in December? Warm colours work!

Ebony: Let's look at the cooler, more restful side of the spectrum. Ebony, while normally a name for black, is actually grey with slight brown tones. It shows off the grain of your solid wood furniture beautifully, and gives that "Ahhhh" feeling when someone enters a room with ebony furniture. For a bedroom, ebony would be a great colour, and give you a space to sleep peacefully, or perhaps your guest room would be that great place. Again, it works well with almost any decor...and should you put an ebony table with black chairs in your dining room? The "Wow" factor will meet you! Another great "gray/brown" stain colour that we have found recently is Aged Barrel. Amazing on any solid wood furniture piece!

Natural: Looking for happy? Sunshine? Brightness? Natural is a great colour to choose! It's a lighter, bright brown tone, and gives that feeling of cheerfulness to any room where you find it. Another colour along the same line, which makes your solid wood furniture stand out, is Early American light. While giving a slightly more "orange" tone, it also generates that sense of sunshine in the room where your Mennonite furniture is placed. Pair this one with black, and see your space shine! You can always simply clear coat your solid wood pieces, and the beauty of your wood will stand out. The only word of caution is that it will yellow over time. But if you're ok with that - go for it!

Provincial: Another warm brown, but this one is rustic! We love this colour, and the grain and unique colouring of your wormy maple furniture will lend rustic charm to any room! Dining room, living room, bedroom, even your "man cave" will only be uplifted by the atmosphere this stain brings! Another great pair with black - amazing!

So many more colours are out there to choose for your new solid wood Mennonite -crafted furniture...and remember, ours is made locally in Ontario! Keep in mind the atmosphere you want in your room - ask yourself what vibe you want to feel, and what expression of space you want to give your family and friends. Then choose the colour that best expresses those sentiment. Every room is made better by solid wood furniture!

In keeping with our faith in Jesus Christ that we love to share, remember the best way to have the atmosphere you want everywhere in your home is to follow Him! The presence of Christ makes every home a place to relax, feel warmth and love, and find happiness and joy.
